Promoting the mental health and wellbeing of family carers

Empowering Family Carers,

Protecting Mental Health

There are over 5 million unpaid carers (2021 census) in England and Wales.

They contribute £162 billion pounds to the economy per year.

Who are family carers?

Unpaid carers are individuals who provide care for a family member, friend, or neighbour with a disability, a long-term illness, a mental health condition, or other needs without financial compensation.

A significant number report feeling depressed, anxious, and lonely and often do not have time to look after their own physical health needs.

Most provide support day in, and day out and are the backbone of our civil society.

They should be valued.

Our Vision

Created and delivered by a family carer who is also a psychiatrist alongside an ally, a social justice champion and creative, we are excited to provide a platform that encourages conversation, connections and practical advice rooted in lived experience.
